Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degrees from Northern Illinois University - DeKalb, Illinois; taught seven years in the public education system and served as an instructor (special assignment) in the United States Marine Corps from 1971 to 1973.
In 1982, attended the Wausau Insurance Company's Risk Management program and, in 1986, attended Marsh & McLennan's Risk Management's Professional Development program in New York.
During his years in Loss Control - Risk Management has served on numerous safety and health committees with several organizations and associations, including the Cement, Quarry and Mineral Aggregate (CQMA) section of the National Safety Council. Chaired the section's Education and Training Committee for four years; likewise, has been active in the American Society of Safety Engineers Organization. For two years, have served as the Northeastern Illinois Chapter's President and President-Elect.

Under his administration, a Worker's Compensation program has realized over $600,000 savings, and fleet insurance premium has been reduced by 25%. Furthermore, have effectively reduced building and content coverage costs by 60%.
